The story of Caroline MacLure's lost iPod touch that became an internet sensation overnight, has come to a perfectly happy ending for the Baltimore teenager.
A memorable photo (below) featuring the teen's homemade $50 reward sign, quickly made its way across the internet after being posted showing another sign outbidding Caroline's own reward offer by one dollar. The hysterical maneuver was considered by many as a random act of brilliance. It even found its way onto The Huffington Post.
In a brief phone conversation, Caroline's Mom, who requested her name remain unpublished, told the iPhone Savior that her daughter's device was discovered in the yard when the snow began to melt after a huge storm that hit the Baltimore, Maryland area a few weeks back.
Caroline's brother Parker, spotted the missing device which remained buried under several feet of snow for more than two weeks, according to Mrs. MacLure.
The 16GB iPod touch was housed inside a hard plastic case with the addition of a screen protector placed over the face according to Caroline. Which may explain why the device survived any permanent damage. After being removed from the case, Parker dried off his sister's iPod and placed it inside a bag of rice for approximately 24 hours. Apparently, the "rice trick" is a commonly known household remedy used to dry out soaked gadgets.
"I know it's worked for phones before," said Caroline about using rice. "I wasn't fully sure it would work for my iPod, but I still had a little hope."Thanks to her brother Parker, Caroline's iPod touch is now functioning normally since being unearthed from its snowy winter grave, with no reward money required. The young Caroline expressed that she's much too happy about the outcome.
As for Mrs. MacLure, she just wants the constant creepy phone messages from random strangers to stop. When the photo of Caroline's reward sign was originally posted online, it included her cell phone number for the world see. The equivalent of writing someone's phone number on the wall of an interstate gas station restroom, but only a thousand times worse.
The irony of this amazing gadget survival story, is that Caroline discovered the now infamous image while checking Facebook from her resurrected iPod touch. "Someone posted a link to the photo on my wall," Caroline said. "By then I had already found my iPod. I couldn't believe it."
I'm a sucker for happy endings.

Happy ending? What about her poor brother? Doesn't he deserve a reward - first for finding it and then for drying it out for her?
Brothers get no respect.
