iRetrofone creator Scott Freeland, has decided to trick out his iPhone dock concept with a classic hot rod theme. Hand-painted flames were added along the sides of the phone base along with silver leaf detailing placed around the base and on the phone's handset.
Each iRetrofone is hand-sculpted and hand-cast in urethane resin. The phone's handset is fully functional, making it a great desktop docking station for making old school calls using any iPhone 3G or 3GS device. Expect to pay $349 for this limited edition design that's signed by the artist.
We first featured Scott's ultra-slick iRetrofone dock when he launched it back April. The artist is now adding fresh flair to his original design that loosely borrows inspiration from the iconic 1937 type 302 phone
created by industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss.
Freeland, a 41-year-old sculptor from South Florida, sports flames of his own in the form of a large tattoo visible on his left wrist. Which may have been the inspiration for this hot rod mod, transforming the iRetrofone dock into a classic bad ass.
