Steve Jobs Gifts iPhone 4 to Russian President

 

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, snagged himself a brand new iPhone 4 personally gifted to him by Steve Jobs, when Russia's chief Apple geek toured Silicon Valley on Wednesday. Later in the day, Medvedev, 44, delivered a speech at Stanford University, reading directly from his official iPad.

"I wanted to see with my own eyes the origin of success," he said in Russian. "I'm inspired with what I saw here in Silicon Valley and at Stanford. In a very good way, I am kind of jealous of all you here." Source:Reuters

While thousands of Apple faithful wait in painfully long lines today to get their hands on Apple's new iPhone 4, Medvedev was able to pocket his a day early thanks to El Jobso.

It's one international incident certain to cause instant iEnvy for hordes of gadget geeks back in Russia.

White iPhone 4 Officially Delayed Until Mid July

CUPERTINO, CA - Apple confirmed today in an official press release that their white model iPhone 4 will be delayed until sometime in the second half of July. An official date was not yet given for pre-orders to begin.

"White models of Apple’s new iPhone® 4 have proven more challenging to manufacture than expected, and as a result they will not be available until the second half of July. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected."

The company did emphasize that black is the "more popular model". Which makes total sense since it's the only one that can currently be ordered. Are you buying iPhone 4 black or white?

Apple Email Confirms Early iPhone 4 Deliveries

Several tips have flooded our in-boxes confirming that Apple is delivering iPhone 4 pre-orders a day early for many faithful followers on June 23rd.

The rest of planet Apple, unable to successfully pre-order a device on June 15th, will have to wait until the official launch starting at 7 A.M. on June 24th.

The iPhone 4 launch fiasco has managed to offer users a roller coaster thrill ride right up to the final hours of desperate waiting. And there's still a few days left. Did you get an early delivery notice via email?

Dear Apple Store Customer,

You recently received a Shipment Notification email from Apple advising you that your iPhone has shipped.

This email is to confirm that your delivery will occur on June 23rd. Although Apple and FedEx tracking information may currently indicate a later date, you can check the FedEx website the morning of the June 23rd to track your package to your doorstep.

In the event that you will not be available to accept delivery on June 23rd, it may be more convenient to use our pre-sign delivery option by visiting our Order Status website at http://www.apple.com/orderstatus.

Apple Confirms: FaceTime Video Won't Burn Carrier Minutes

The new FaceTime video feature that sparked some 600 thousand iPhone 4 pre-orders o June 15th, will not eat up carrier minutes even if the visual chat is initiated from within a voice call.

The good news comes through an Apple rep who confirmed that Wi-Fi only FaceTime calls will encourage a lot more video chats if users know that carrier minutes aren't being burned up.

"The voice call ends as soon as the FaceTime call connects,"  Apple tells us. "The FaceTime call is over Wi-Fi so it does not use carrier minutes. Source: Business Insider

This amazing iPhone 4 feature is poised to make the device even more popular if the calls prove to maintain a long, reliable connection.

Carrier minutes may not be preserved once Apple chooses to unleash video chatting over AT&T's 3G network. It's uncertain if future FaceTime video over 3G will be billed as voice minutes or charged against data caps.

With AT&T's infamous spotty 3G service, I'm not sure either option deserves serious consideration at present. iPhone 4 launches on Thursday, June 24th starting at 7:00 A.M.

When social networking giant Twitter, gets painfully overloaded, it's the infamous Twitter "Fail Whale" that appears to users, signaling that they've been temporarily locked out of their tweeting addiction.

AT&T Emails iPhone 4 Cancellation Notices

We have received several emails telling the same tale of random iPhone 4 pre-order horror, in what appears to be official AT&T notices arriving to customers, informing them that their orders have been cancelled.

After receiving an official email order confirmation from AT&T just days earlier, one customer reported that funds originally charged to his credit card by the wireless carrier, have have now been credited back to his account without any prior notice.

Michael informed the iPhone Savior, that he was confirmed as eligible for an iPhone 4 upgrade by AT&T when he made his pre-order at the store on June 15th.

Gizmodo has also posted several email reports from iPhone 4 pre-order customers claiming to be suffering shock and awe from the same random cancellation notices. Another major glitch from AT&T that few saw coming just days before Apple's official iPhone 4 launch begins on June 24th.

AT&T has yet to issue an official statement on the matter. It's expected that some kind of explanation is forthcoming as more and more victims begin to come forward behind this latest iPhone 4 pre-order fiasco.

With the above email time stamped 7:32 PM, it's possible that the nightmare for many hopeful iPhone 4  customers has just begun. We'll keep you updated on this developing story.
