iPhone 4 Proximity Sensor Fix Due September 8th with iOS 4.1 Update

Apple's UK website has posted the release date of iOS 4.1 for download on Wednesday, September 8th. This first major iOS update is expected to deliver fixes for the iPhone 4 proximity sensor, bluetooth bugs and iPhone 3G performance bugs as promised by Steve Jobs at Apple's recent media event.

Added functionality coming with iOS 4.1 include a High Dynamic Range (HDR) photo option inside iPhone's native Photo app, WiFi HD video uploading to YouTube and Mobile me, social gaming with Game Center and new social discovery features for Ping inside iTunes.

Although the features included with the new iOS update are nifty additions, it's the proximity sensor bug that iPhone 4 users are extremely anxious to see remedied.

The U.S. Apple website still shows "Coming Soon" on the iOS 4.1 software update page. Hopefully that page will change soon to reflect a confirmed date for the states next week. This update is long overdue for those plagued with random "cheek dialing".

UPDATE: The UK Apple site has now been changed to read "Coming Soon".

 

There's A Miniature Horse In My Apple Store!

Holy crap Batman! There's a miniature horse hanging out in my Apple store! When this fantastical photo first surfaced yesterday, unbelievers wrote it off as a Photoshop prank. Nope!

This mini horse has been spotted in an Apple store more than once. Chris Laseter (pictured right), confirmed the unreal sighting by awkwardly inserting himself into his own my little pony photo.

"It is a One-to-One customer's horse that visits the store on the regular. He even rides in the front seat of the woman's van." Chris told Gizmodo.

Way to go Chris! You get my vote as the new "photobomb squirrel".

When I spotted this stunning 3D pixel art of Steve Jobs on the September cover of MacFan Magazine, I became instantly obsessed with getting a print for myself.
