Apple has launched an official Adapter Replacement Program for its "T" style MPM MagSafe Adapter according to a support article posted on Apple.com. The company has posted guidelines for both replacement adapters and refunds for those who purchased their own replacement in the past few years.
"Apple may provide customers a replacement adapter if the power adapter shows signs of strain relief. Strain relief is defined as a condition where the DC cable (the thin cord that attaches the MagSafe connector to the power adapter) separates from the end of the MagSafe connector or from the other end of the thin cord, at the power adapter."
"Whether your product is in or out of warranty, you can take your adapter to an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple Retail Store for evaluation and replacement if necessary. Pending the results of evaluation, you may or may not be eligible for a replacement adapter free of charge. Signs of accidental damage would negate any coverage. Be sure to bring in the computer used with the adapter; it is required to process potential adapter replacements."
Customers can contact an authorized Apple Service Provider, visit the Apple store Genius Bar or Apple’s own technical support department to take part in the replacement program. Those who have purchased a new adapter within the last year can be refunded up to $79, two years $50 or a three-year-old replacement may get you a $35.00 refund. You can also refer to AdapoterSettlement.com for greater details on this Magsafe drama.
I suggest you jump in on this window of opportunity if you have any kind of MagSafe power adapter with tearing in the chord. Now is your chance to complain. You really have nothing to loose.

Oh, I still have one of these and was noticing that it doesn't always work as it should. Think it it time to replace it.
