Walter Isaacson's biography of Steve Jobs has made it into in Amazon's Best 100 Books of 2011 list. The annual feature includes Editors' Picks for the Top 100 Books of the Year and Top 10 lists in more than two dozen categories.
The company announced in a press release Tuesday that "Steve Jobs" snagged the No. 8 spot in the Top 10 editor's picks for the year. After its October 24th release, the story of Jobs became an Amazon bestseller overnight, sending early signs that the bio would be one of the most successful books this holiday season.
"Jobs stands as the ultimate icon of inventiveness and applied imagination. He knew that the best way to create value in the twenty-first century was to connect creativity with technology. Although Jobs cooperated with this book, he asked for no control over what was written nor even the right to read it before it was published." wrote Amazon .
The book sold 379,000 copies in the U.S. in its first week, making it by far the top-selling book in the country. All 250,000 Chinese edition copies of Jobs’ authorized biography were completely sold out within a day of its release in China.
Amazon's pick for The Best Book of the Year, went to author Chad Harbach for "The Art of Fielding".
