iOS 5 Camera Tips:
Apple introduced 200 new features with the release of iOS 5 software and one of the cooler upgrades is the ability to snap photos using iPhone's VOLUME UP (+) button. This feature makes it simple to shoot rapid fire photos and it also takes the awkwardness out of shooting those one-arm, self-portrait photos when using your front-facing camera.
The Volume Up (+) button on your iPhone Earbud headset also works the same way for Shooting photos. There's no need to remove your Earbuds to snap a quick shot. This feature is ideal for setting your iPhone down and using the Earbuds cord as a wired remote. Using the Volume Up (+) as a shutter button is an iOS 5 feature that also works for capturing video and includes 3GS users as well.
Open Camera from Lock Screen:
Two more cool iOS 5 camera upgrades are the ability to access the camera from your lock screen and turning on a visual grid to make framing and aligning photos much easier.
For quick camera access, DOUBLE CLICK your HOME BUTTON from sleep or lock screen and then tap the camera icon in the bottom right corner. This double click also provides instant access to your iPod music player as well.
Using Photo Grid:
When you're ready to shoot a photo tap the OPTIONS button at the top/center of your screen. This gives you access to turn on the screen GRID function. You can leave the GRID always on or choose to access it at will going forward by using the On/Off button.
HDR Photos:
You'll also notice the HDR Button is available through OPTIONS. HDR stands for High Dynamic Range, a photo enhancing feature that can either be your friend or foe depending upon the exposure of your photo. I'll discuss the pros and cons of using HDR in another post. But since iPhone stores the regular photo in addition to the HDR version of the image in your camera roll, you can turn this feature ON and see which one you prefer with nothing to loose in the process.
Get snapping people!
Who knew? You just made my day with this post.
