Who knew when Apple handed out branded hoodies to their Cupertino staffers as a thank you for a terrific 2011, that one of those zip-up sweatshirts would haul in $2,025 on eBay. That's more than the price of a new 15" MacBook Pro.
The Apple branded hoodie, originally listed on December 24th was accompanied in the same auction by a navy colored beanie with an embroidered Apple logo on the front. It's interesting that the listing's description does not actually say the medium size hoodie is a genuine item gifted by Apple to its employees. Still it drew 49 bids from a handful of potential buyers.
"This listing is for a black Apple hoodie (size Medium) like the one given to Apple employees as a Christmas gift from the company this year." seller jlgmultimedia wrote in the item description that lists it shipping from Charlotte, North Carolina.
I spotted two more of the now infamous Apple branded hoodies listed for auction. In at least one of the eBay listings by seller loveligoods, located in Pleasant Hills, California, the description clearly states that the item is authentic.
"Black Apple Hoodie - Authentic & Genuine (Size L) - Given to all employees as Christmas 2011 gift. Cannot be bought in any store." lovligoods wrote.
I'm certain we've not seen the end of this impulsive buying frenzy surrounding what could become one of the most sought after hooded sweatshirts on planet earth. How much would you pay for this collectible hunk of Apple fashion?
Here is the other auction. http://www.ebay.com/itm/330664683466?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649#ht_500wt_1378
