Apple is wrapping up testing on what the company is marketing as “tech support for the rest of us,” with their revolutionary new Idiot Bar concept which puts a high priority on customers with a lower I.Q.
The service was created for those that cause long waits at the Genius Bar by booking appointments to ask moronic questions like; "Does email get delivered on Holidays?" or "How do I reset the internet?".
"Research proves that over 60% of Genius Bar customers are clogging up the works with mostly dumb questions," according to Apple. "We like to think of the Idiot Bar staff as a lower grade of Genius."
Apple plans to roll out Idiot Bars to larger metropolitan retail locations once testing is complete after the second week in January. The company is finally addressing a problem that's grown more serious since its worldwide share of the PC market passed the 5 percent mark for the first time in 15 years.
"The growth in Mac shipments in the past year represented 20% of the growth in worldwide PC shipments," said analyst Charlie Wolf of Needham & Co. Wolf also noted that Apple's September 2011 quarter Mac shipments exceeded annual Mac shipments for all years prior to 2006.
I've always believed that there's no such thing as dumb questions, just dumb people. I'm excited to eventually see an Idiot Bar in every Apple store across the globe. It's about time.
