Apple has returned to the classic theme of Santa and his elves again this year featuring a Facetime conversation between old St. Nick and his elfin workers "Straight from the workshop". The retail store continues to favor the traditional white versions of its iOS devices over black.
While the whimsical iPhone 4S scene fills the window on the right, a magical iPad features Santa in the window on the left. He's surrounded by falling app icons and propped up by a huge replica of a leather (product) RED Smart Cover.
Apple cleverly slipped the premium leather cover into their display which carries a price tag of $69 compared to the $39 polyurethane version released with iPad 2.
Both the iPhone and iPad display include a full motion video loop of Santa and his elves, an app demo of Cut The Rope: Holiday Gift, Epicurious Recipes and a parade of various features included with each device. The video displays are each powered by a Mac Mini hidden below.
I so look forward to Apple's holiday store window display every year because they always deliver a large serving of childlike wonder for the big kid in all of us. Isn't that what Christmas is really all about?
