Apple stores have begun accepting U.S. Food Stamps as a valid method of payment in what is being called by some financial analysts as “the most aggressive economy growth plan in recent years,” according to a detailed Scoopertino news report.
“By signing a new bill that classifies iPad as an “essential nutrient,” president Obama makes it possible for Apple Stores to accept U.S. food stamps as payment.” the report says.
Co-sponsor of the “No iPad Left Behind Act,” Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), joined Apple CEO Tim Cook at a joint press conference this morning where the plan was announced.
“Food stamps are meant to provide nourishment,” said Pelosi, “and iPads provide nourishment for the mind.”
According to the report—a family of four may redeem six months worth of food stamps at Apple stores for a refurbished 16GB Wi-Fi iPad 2. My favorite part of this program is the “special edible boxes made of dehydrated cornstarch and potato flour”. Now that's truly green packaging.
