The extra fuzzy Furby is back for round three of kid mania — speaking fluent Furbish and taking commands from a downloadable Furby iOS app that works with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices.
The return of Furby may be the first real sign that the Mayan calendar was spot on about the world ending in late 2012 — right about the time this hyper-annoying creature lands on store shelves.
The original Furby was released in 1998 with over 40 million units sold during three years of production. The Furby was reintroduced again by Hasbro in 2005 and now it's back for another shameless poke at pop culture right in time for the holiday Shopocalypse.
Hasbro is pimping Furby in 10 new colors along with more expressive LCD eyes, a wider range of motions and an iOS app that can be used for feeding and translating Furbish to English for starters.
Walmart is selling pre-orders of the furry one for $54 — with a promised September 16 arrival date. The Teal colored Furby is currently leading the pack with 41-percent of pre-sale orders over the purple model lagging behind with just 23-percent of the action.
Proceed at your own risk — THE END is near.
