Since Apple has not yet released an iPhone 5 dock that supports their new Lightning adapter — filmmaker Casey Neistat decided to build his own do-it-yourself version for his desktop using some plywood scraps he had hanging around.
The end result is a really rugged, bolt-down iPhone 5 dock that cost him an entire $1 to make — keeping in mind that he already had the supplies and power tools on hand including a man-sized shop vac inside his New York City loft. Impressive dude!
While the finished product is far more raw and utilitarian than suits my own bougie, high-brow tastes — the video production here is a personal triumph of contemporary filmmaking.
In fact, Casey won an Independent Spirit Award at the Cannes Film Festival for his work and has a show on HBO. He tells a great visual story that leaves a lasting impression. Casey also makes cool stuff for his iPhone 5.
Creative ingenuity rules!
