Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am is making big plans to "turn your smartphone into a genius-phone" when he unveils his first hunk of iPhone hardware next week in London.
His global launch of i.am+ backed snap-on acessory is designed to transform iPhone's standard 8-megapixel camera into a 14-megapixel lens — dramatically enhancing the clarity and definition of your photographs. Speaking to the The Daily Telegraph, Will.i.am explained his master plan to make the smartphone even smarter.
“We have our own sensor and a better flash. You dock your phone into our device and it turns your smartphone into a genius-phone. We take over the camera...” says Will.i.am.
“I was just hanging out [after a photo shoot], and one of the models took an iPhone picture, which circulated the planet before the shoot was even over... I took one of the photographer's lenses and held it up on my [phone] and said "imagine this one day". Then I said: "I'm going to do this".”
Apple has already granted a development license to i.am+ to produce and sell the iPhone accessory and proprietary camera app for both iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 according to the report — but Will.i.am promises his company is developing a larger range of high-tech hardware soon to follow.
The new iPhone snap-on camera-booster is set to be officially unveiled at a hyped-up press conference on Wednesday, November 28 in London. An exclusive deal is already in place for Selfridges to sell the product starting in early December.
I wouldn't expect this little "rock star inspired" gadget to come cheap.
