While you're fingering your way around the new Google Maps — you should find these Quick tips on using Google Maps for iPhone to be a great help in speeding up the learning curve.
Even though it's not intended to be an in-depth user guide — many of the Google Maps tips go into greater click-by-click detail for accessing Transit and how to make Saving A Place a useful tool for sharing your epic hot spots.
I've highlighted some tips below that I thought were particular stand-outs in the list:
Transit Find transit routes by train, bus, tram and subway systems. You can find pick-up location, departure time, estimated travel time and travel fare, all on one screen. You'll know where to transfer and where to get off. [link]
Compass Mode
Reading the map is easier when it’s facing the same direction you are facing. Use compass mode to orient yourself by tapping on the My location button twice on the bottom left of your screen.
Save a Place
Saved places sync across all of your devices and will appear on the map and on your search results. To save a place tap the star icon on a location or place info sheet. [link]
Street View
Visit a destination before you get there, even while on-the-go. See landmarks, parks, storefronts and over 5 million miles of road in over 40 countries with 360° street-level imagery. [link]
The new Google Maps app has remained the No. 1 free download in the App Store since it launched on December 12th and demand does not seem to be letting up at all.
Be sure to check out the entire Directions section Google has posted on their website.
